Dr. Dong said in his paper that it is the first time in the history of Chinese private international law, China passed the Act of the PRC on applying law to foreign-related civil relations, which defines a direct application of the internationally mandatory rules in Article 4. He probed into the criteria to define internationally mandatory rules, and detailedly analyzedhow the courts of the New York State in the US and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region recognize the Chinese internationallymandatory rules.
